World AIDS day is commemorated on Saturday December 1, 2018. Activities held around the world on this day, highlight the problem and encourage prevention.
The first case of AIDS was diagnosed on December 1, 1981. Since then, every December 1st is dedicated to publicizing awareness of AIDS and the HIV infection on a global level.
People wear a red ribbon as a sign of solidarity and support for people with HIV and AIDS.
